Dr. D. R. Saini is the Principal of Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram, New Delhi, one of the most reputed educational institutions in the country and abroad. During his 33 years of dedicated service in the field of education, sports and culture, he has held the post of Vice Principal of this institution for 14 years, and of the Principal since August, 2009. His educational qualifications are : M.A., Ph.D, M.Ed., LL.B. He has been instrumental in setting up and looking after the Sports Complex, and the Girls' and Boys' Hostels in DPS R.K. Puram. He was residing on the premises of the Boys' hostel since its inception in 1981, and now resides within the school complex.

Dr. Saini's professional ground experience as an educationist and sports person, has been reinforced through international exposure and regular and formalized training in U.K., U.S.A., Japan, Canada, France, Holland, Switzerland, Australia and China, and other countries. He is a member of 34 Advisory Boards of various institutions and organizations. He is also a Member of the Ethics Committee at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS); Organizing Committee of the Commonwealth Games 2010; Working Group on Sports and Physical Education under the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports in the context of the formulation of the Twelfth Five Year Plan (2012-17), Planning Commission, Government of India; Olympic Values Education Programme, International Olympic Committee, Switzerland; Sports Scientific Board Olympic Council of Asia, Kuwait. He is also the President of Delhi Basketball Association and the Vice Chairman of the Bowling Federation of India.

He is the recipient of 16 prestigious awards for his dedicated service towards Education and Sports.
