New Delhi, 23 January, 2014: One Globe 2014, the third edition of the annual multi-disciplinary conference focused on building a 21st century knowledge economy in India and South Asia, will be held on 7 and 8 February in the capital. Organized by Salwan Media in partnership with Knowledge@Wharton, International New York Times, Brain Gain Magazine and US-India Business Council (USIBC), this year’s conference will place a greater thrust on participatory interactions between the audience and experts on higher education, K-12, skills development, technology, innovation, smart cities and urbanisation from India and around the world. The platform will bring together stakeholders from educational institutions, government, industry, NGOs and media to highlight and improve the linkages between economic development and creating an ecosystem for better education in rural and urban society.

Harjiv Singh, founder and CEO of Salwan Media, says, “Each year, the One Globe knowledge series has not just become bigger and better, but has steadily served as a crucible of learning and progress towards building a 21st century knowledge economy in India and South Asia. In the past editions, we have seen HRD minister Kapil Sibal unveil the concept of meta-universities in India as a networked repository of knowledge that allows students access cross-disciplinary education from different institutions. One Globe also served as the launch pad for a unique mobile education portal that provides Indian students free access to thousands of global educational videos for K-12 and higher education on any internet-enabled mobile phone.”

“This year’s conference expands the scope further to comprehensively include aspects such as scalable educational technology, smart cities, design thinking, innovative and financially sustainable education delivery models, and the role of sports and art in filling the gaps in education,” says Harjiv, adding, “Efforts to improve the level of education cannot be complete without a strong political will. One Globe 2014 is bringing together representatives from leading political parties such as Congress, BJP and AAP to deliberate with Indian and global academicians, industry stalwarts and policy makers.”
