Senior Presidential Fellow, New York University & Chairman, Global Advisory Board at Smart City Expo World Congress

Jerry Hultin strives to promote the innovative use of technology for a better world, especially to increase jobs and economic growth, and innovatively educate young people.

He is the Chairman of the Global Advisory Board at the Smart City Expo World Conference, which serves as one of the world’s top platforms for the meeting of corporations, government leaders and citizens interested in creating smarter cities around the world. Jerry also currently serves as a Senior Presidential Fellow at New York University, the largest private university in the United States with portal campuses in New York City, Abu Dhabi and Shanghai. At NYU, Jerry helps design global and local programs for innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship and economic growth. Jerry mentors students and leaders throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Previously, Jerry was president of the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, where he led Polytechnic in substantial growth, including a 60% increase in enrollment; its merger with NYU; a rise in graduate engineering program rankings; an expansion of graduate online education; award-winning K-12 STEM programs; and an increased presence in China, India, and the Middle East. NYU-Poly’s new business incubators are ranked top-20 world-wide and have generated over $250 million in economic activity.

During William Clinton’s presidency, Jerry served as Under Secretary of the Navy. He helped manage the Navy’s $100+ billion budget and led its “revolution in business affairs,” helping design and procure the Navy Marine Corps Corporate Intranet, which improved IT performance and reduced costs by 33%, saving $1 billion annually.

Earlier in his life, Jerry practiced law, managed small businesses, and consulted in technology, defense, health care, finance, and environment sectors.

Jerry is a graduate of Ohio State University and Yale Law School, and a naval officer with Vietnam service.
