As Regional Director of the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (Stanford Seed), Vipul Rastogi manages the execution of programs and all operations at each regional center. He develops strategic partnerships, manages local support staff, and ensures the highest level of programmatic excellence. In addition, he identifies, recruits, and evaluates business leaders to be selected as participants in Seed’s Transformation Program.

A native of New Delhi, Mr. Rastogi holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering, and an MBA from the University of Akron, Ohio. Upon returning to India, he had a brief career in consulting before joining the IT/ITES revolution in the country, signing on as the second employee at General Electric Co.’s new outsourcing arm in India and helping to grow that business. He then went on to work for Alcoa Inc., setting up new businesses for the aluminum producer and growing existing businesses.

He then shifted to a career in the education and skill development field. He joined NIIT as business unit head and successfully helped turn the business around and provide learning solutions to corporations, government, and institutions. He later worked as CEO for Institute of Management Technology, Center for Distance Learning.

Having worked for organizations ranging in size from start-ups to global multinational corporations on several continents, Mr. Rastogi regards successes and failures as part of living and learning.
